ReadyFix integrates with MAC VU360 ECG workstations to help biomedical engineers maintain device uptime through real-time diagnostics and remote troubleshooting.

GE HealthCare has launched ReadyFix, a remote fleet management solution designed to help healthcare systems maintain device uptime and reduce equipment disruptions. The solution will initially deploy with the company’s MAC VU360 resting electrocardiogram workstations to optimize cardiac care delivery.

ReadyFix provides real-time data and remote device diagnostic capabilities, allowing healthcare systems to proactively maintain and optimize MAC VU360 devices throughout the hospital. The solution supports consistent patient care by enabling remote diagnosis and repair capabilities.

The launch addresses growing challenges facing biomedical engineering teams, who may be responsible for managing thousands of medical devices across their facilities. With an average of 10 to 15 connected devices per bed, maintaining equipment has become increasingly difficult.

A recent survey found that 56% of biomedical engineers describe their workload as “heavy” or “excessive.” The US Bureau of Labor Statistics projects more than 7,300 openings for biomedical equipment technicians over the next decade, while only about 400 new graduates enter the field annually.

Remote Configuration and Maintenance Capabilities

ReadyFix allows standardized clinical configurations to be remotely deployed by department, enabling consistent user experience and patient protocols. Software updates can be deployed instantly or scheduled, while remote access to device diagnostic tools and log files enables proactive troubleshooting and maintenance.

“Remote fleet management tools provide us with the clarity, structure, and real-time insights needed to stay ahead of equipment issues and maintain a high standard of reliability across the hospital,” says Tony Williams, director of biomedical engineering at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, in a release. “These tools elevate the way our biomedical engineering team supports patient care equipment.”

The solution also supports secure, reliable transmission of ECG data and enables health systems to standardize devices after installation through configuration management, according to the company.

Expansion of DeviceReady Portfolio

ReadyFix expands GE HealthCare’s portfolio of DeviceReady remote fleet management solutions designed to help biomedical engineers navigate medical device complexity. The company designed ReadyFix with the intent to be compatible with additional devices and care areas in the future.

“As healthcare systems continue to adopt more complex and connected devices, the need for more efficient fleet management solutions has never been greater,” says Neal Sandy, head of product strategy and management for patient care solutions at GE HealthCare, in a release. “The introduction of ReadyFix represents a significant step forward in connected care management, launching first with MAC VU360 and designed with the intent to be compatible with additional devices and care areas in the future.”

Use of ReadyFix is limited to ReadyFix-enabled devices, and MAC VU360 software version 3.0 is required for integration. ReadyFix is designed with the intent to be compatible with additional devices and care areas in the future.
