Flower Mound, Texas-based SPBS, Inc. has named David Hickson, PhD, to its board of directors. Hickson, a veteran of the HTM field, currently serves as CEO and managing partner of MHSC Energy Management, LLC., an LED lighting solutions company operating throughout 24 states in the United States.

Jeff Daugherty, SPBS’s CEO, spoke out about the board appointment, commenting: “We are extremely pleased to welcome David to our board and look forward to the numerous contributions and years of experience and knowledge he brings to the table. David’s experience as an entrepreneur, industry leader, and business expert will be an invaluable asset to the future growth of SPBS in the healthcare industry.”

Prior to working at MHSC Energy Management, Hickson served as CEO of an electronic auction platform for selling used medical devices. Moreover, from 1999-2007, Hickson was the founder, president, and CEO of Intellamed, a national biomedical services company, until the sale of his company to UHS in 2007. He also served in additional leadership capacities with CIC Healthcare Corp., and Union Carbide Corporation, as well as several local board and civil council positions in Bryan/College Station, Texas, including mayor pro tem. He also boasts more than 25 years of HTM industry leadership experience.

Moreover, Hickson holds a M.S. and a PhD in food chemistry, as well as a B.S. in biology from Texas A&M University. In addition to 16 journal articles and publications, Hickson has also received several accolades and honor awards throughout his career.

To Daugherty, the addition of Hickson to SPBS’ board of directors will be a boon to operations. “I’m thrilled to be working with David again,” Daugherty adds. “I’ve known him since 2005 working in the capacity as CFO of Intellamed, as well as serving on its board. David brings tremendous knowledge and healthcare relationships to SPBS in the healthcare technology management sector.”
