Phanel Guerrier, an untrained biomedical assistant at a hospital in Cange, Haiti, and Luxon Philogene, an electrical engineering student, have come to Texas to begin formal biomedical training via a partnership between Dallas-based MediSend International and AAMI. The two students hope to return to Haiti and assist with the recovery from last year’s earthquake tragedy.

MediSend’s biomedical repair training program will prepare Guerrier and Philogene to install, calibrate, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot sophisticated devices and instrumentation. They’ll learn proper installation, operation, and repair, as well as preventive and safety inspections to ensure that biomedical equipment meets US and international safety standards.
