AAMI announced that officials are accepting nominations until December 16 for several key leadership positions on the board of directors and the board’s nominating committee.

The association will consider nominees for vice chair of BMETs, vice chair of health administration, and vice chair of medical research, as well as nominations for four director slots and one seat on the nominating committee. Individuals selected for these posts will attend two board meetings each year and will serve three-year terms.

“Most board members have served as chair of one or more major AAMI committees and have contributed greatly with their time and personal resources,” says Steve Campbell, AAMI’s chief operating officer. “Committee participation not only shows a commitment to the organization, but it also provides an opportunity to witness the effective leadership skills needed to serve on the AAMI board.”

Some of the other criteria used to identify AAMI leadership include:

  • Credibility. All board members are well known and respected in their professional communities.
  • Leadership. Board members have strong leadership skills that have been demonstrated during substantial AAMI service and contributions.
  • Interest. All board members share a desire to advance the medical device field or profession.
  • Experience. Selected individuals have served as leaders for other association boards or committees.

Board members also display attributes such as professionalism; strong decision-making skills; a long-term, “broad picture” perspective; honesty; candor; straightforwardness; integrity; and loyalty.

Interested individuals should submit a recent curriculum vitae, a statement outlining their qualifications, and a completed leadership nomination form. Nominees can send their documents to Steve Campbell at [email protected] or fax them to 703-276-0793. The nominating committee will meet in late January to review the applications and make recommendations.
