To help healthcare technology management professionals better understand their career options in the field, AAMI’s Technology Management Council has designed what it calls “a comprehensive plan.”
Introducing the plan on June 1 at the AAMI conference, council member Karen Waninger, clinical engineering director at Community Health Network in Indianapolis, explained, “We wanted to help produce a tool that would allow HTM to map out a path for their own advancement based on their desires.”
The plan includes career graph and planning worksheets. For each of the three typical job types—technical specialist, clinical engineer, and leadership—a grid lays out the increasing skills required for each increasing level of responsibility.
Although it is now available on the AAMI website, the document is still in draft form.
