The purchase includes CABMET’s suite of presentations, videos, and documents covering each area of the CBET exam outline, including anatomy and physiology; public safety in the healthcare facility; fundamentals of electricity and electronics; healthcare technology and function; healthcare technology problem-solving; and healthcare information technology. Additional instructional materials focusing on the AAMI’s Certified Healthcare Technology Manager (CHTM) certification and other topics were also acquired.
“The programs the CABMET team have developed are among the best in the country,” says Danielle McGeary, vice president of HTM at AAMI. “Our goal in acquiring these programs is to invest in them and expand them into new channels and to a global audience.”
Under the terms of the transaction, CABMET will have the right to market access to the new AAMI CBET instructor-led program to its members residing in Colorado for three years. AAMI will offer a virtual CBET prep course prior to the November CBET exam date. Course dates will be published in early September at www.aami.org/ACI. In addition, AAMI is offering private CBET prep classes for individual institutions.
“The CBET and CHTM certifications are important hallmarks of professional competency that should be attainable for HTM professionals no matter where they live and work,” says Brad Schoener, AAMI’s vice president of innovation, who led the acquisition effort. “We intend to invest first in offering test-prep virtual classes and self-study programs for the CBET, followed by CHTM offerings.”
