In a July 6 email to members of the North Carolina Biomedical Association (NCBA), the group’s president, Glenn Scales, announced funding for three annual scholarships.

As it traditionally does, the NCBA itself will again be funding the Eddie Whisnant Scholarship, named in honor of one of the longtime supporters of the association. In addition, NCBA corporate member US Medical Systems will fund the $2,000 Norman “Red” Reeves Scholarship. Both scholarships are awarded to a student enrolled for a second year in a North Carolina Community College System BMET program. Both scholarships award $1,000 per semester for a total of $2,000 each to each recipient.

Scales also announced that Aramark Healthcare will be providing the $5,000 funding for the scholarship named in his honor. Established in 2008, the Glenn W. Scales Scholarship is awarded to a working BMET member of the NCBA who is pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree.

More information on the scholarships is available on the NCBA website.
