Fifty Rigel Medical 288 field service kits are being supplied to British Ministry of Defence medical servicing centers to help trainers instruct army, navy, and airforce technicians on how to use the testers properly in military theatres around the globe.
The 288 hand held devices were selected in part for reasons of portability and time-to-results. The lightweight 288 tester can barcode and recall the test history of a particular device, which can help save technicians time on electrical safety checks.
The Medical and General Supplies Team (M&GS) specified Rigel’s 288 kit after it was assessed by technicians at RAF Henlow in Bedfordshire, UK. The M&GS Team is responsible for the provision and support of general, medical, dental, and veterinary material and equipment for Britain’s armed forces.
The tester helps users conform to appropriate electrical safety standards and guidelines, including IEC 62353 IEC/EN60601-1, VDE 0751-1, AS/NZS 3551, AAMI, NFPA-99, MDA DB 9801-2006. Users can select from a range of preset test programs or develop their own customized routines.
