If the scan area is not showing an image while scanning, the cause can be a defective transducer. Try another one to see if the problem goes away. If not, then the ultrasound system itself is the cause.

It can be a bad board in the front end where the ultrasound signal gets processed. Also, a defective scan converter can cause this type of failure.
