How to work in the OR without getting yelled at. Hospitals know no fury like a surgeon scorned, so you’d better be able to negotiate the sterile field before you gown up. Here’s some pointers on working around the operating room so you don’t make “the fecal roster”!
When I was in charge of a biomed department, I could count on at least one call per year from the operating room supervisor/manager to complain about the actions of one of our biomeds. The most common complaint was that the biomed intruded into the sterile field. What is the sterile field? Unfortunately it varies from case to case, room to room, and hospital to hospital.
