Konica Minolta Inc has acquired Viztek LLC through its division Konica Minolta Medical Imaging. The agreement will allow Konica Minolta to enhance its comprehensive healthcare IT capabilities into the areas of image acquisition and physician diagnosis.
Konica Minolta is a $9 billion global company with an established presence in primary imaging, digital radiography (DR), ultrasound, and healthcare IT and services. The company says the acquisition will help it grow its business and better respond to customers’ needs by offering healthcare solutions and support. Viztek’s presence and customer loyalty will also complement Konica Minolta’s own customer base and healthcare solutions across hospitals, outpatient clinics, imaging centers, and teleradiology, an announcement said.
As part of the acquisition, 20/20 Imaging LLC, the partner company of Viztek LLC, will also become an autonomous subsidiary of Konica Minolta. The companies say they will expand their product lineup to continue their focus on the design and delivery of healthcare solutions.
Viztek is a provider of complete digital software and hardware imaging solutions. The company most recently introduced its Exa platform for PACS, RIS, and EHR systems, enabling access to images and information for radiologists and physicians, regardless of location, to support care delivery. The company has reported record sales for DR in 2015, with new advancements in wireless technology along with dose efficient software for pediatrics.
