Just got a report from Stephen L. Grimes, FACCE FHIMSS FAIMBE, who returned from a “great” HIMSS conference. He said, “Clinical engineering and IT are definitely hitting their stride. We had a variety of events with great attendance and the demographics are growing to include not only clinical engineering and IT, but also CNOs and other nursing professionals, physicians, informaticists, etc.”
Steve is currently representing the CE-IT Community (comprised of AAMI/ACCE/HIMSS) in a collaborative project with the HIMSS Medical Device & Patient Safety workgroup. As the chair of the Risk Management workgroup, he said the group has a survey in progress in order to gather information about the use of Risk Management processes within health care organizations. The target audience for the survey includes clinical engineers, biomeds, risk managers, IT, and chief security officers. Essentially, the workgroup would like to reach anyone who has insight into how risk management processes are being applied to health care technologies in health care organizations.
As in all surveys, the more data collected, the more valid and beneficial the results and subsequent analysis.
Show your support and take the brief Risk Analysis survey to help the group collect baseline information. Click here to take the survey before the deadline of March 18.
