The medical technology company plans to drop Siemens from its name as it prepares to operate independently, with the transition expected to begin after a planned 2027 spin-off.
Siemens Healthineers will change its name to Healthineers. The transition to Healthineers is the next step in the company’s evolution to a fully standalone healthcare company. For Siemens, the change sharpens the focus on its strategy of scaling industrial AI by combining the real and digital worlds.
“This is the logical next step in a journey we started years ago—and one that has proven hugely successful,” says Roland Busch, president and CEO of Siemens AG, in a release. “Siemens Healthineers has grown from its Siemens roots into a global leader in its own right. It is only natural that this evolution is reflected clearly in how the company presents itself to the outside world.”
Busch adds that the change sharpens Siemens’ profile “as the company that scales AI in the real world.”
Bernd Montag, president and CEO of Siemens Healthineers AG, says in a release that Siemens “remains an important and treasured part of our heritage.” He adds, “Healthineers is who we are—engineers and pioneers in healthcare. After the deconsolidation from Siemens, we will write the next chapters of our journey in the Healthineers name and will continue pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare for everyone. Everywhere. Sustainably.”
Spin-Off and Transition Timeline
Siemens has announced plans to deconsolidate Siemens Healthineers in 2027 through a spin-off. Shareholders of both companies will be asked to approve the spin-off at their annual meetings in February 2027. The name change also requires approval at the Siemens Healthineers annual shareholders’ meeting.
The brand transition is expected to begin after the spin-off is entered into the German Commercial Register, which completes the spin-off and the deconsolidation from Siemens. The companies have agreed to a brand transition period of three years after deconsolidation. The period is meant to allow a smooth transition, including the re-registration of legal entities and products.
