Our February issue presents an excellent article in our Networking column by Jeff Kabachinski about securing your passwords. We all use passwords for pretty much everything we do online these days, whether it’s an e-mail account, banking, social networking, or shopping. Trying to remember those passwords is one thing, creating passwords hackers can’t crack is a whole different ball game.
In health care, strong passwords play a key role in protecting patient data. Hospitals go to great lengths to protect data, but methods aren’t foolproof. Jeff provides some pretty frightening statistics on this topic, but also gives us some tips on how to choose passwords that will protect our important information.
I’m interested in what new tools or approaches hospitals use today to eliminate the risk. If you have implemented a good process, let us know.
