Siemens has appointed J. Marc Overhage, MD, PhD, as chief medical informatics officer (CMIO) of the health services business unit. At Siemens, Overhage will be responsible for clinical informatics activities and guiding long-term product strategies. He assumes the role on March 28, 2011.

Overhage recently served as the president and CEO of the nonprofit organization, Indiana Health Information Exchange. He has also served as the director of medical informatics at Regenstrief Institute in Indianapolis, and is the Sam Regenstrief Professor of Medicine and Medical Informatics at the Indiana School of Medicine.
