The Joint Commission, Oakbrook Terrace, Ill, has appointed Ann Scott Blouin, PhD, RN, and health care and nursing leader, as executive VP for the division of accreditation and certification operations as of August 11.

Blouin will oversee accreditation and certification programs for more than 15,000 health care organizations. Her domain includes activities related to surveys and the accreditation/certification-award process, such as the handling of sentinel events, complaints, performance-measurement requirements; and oversight of the standards-interpretation function, ongoing development and refinement of the priority-focus process, and the periodic-performance review.

Blouin’s resume includes 30 years of health care-administration, consulting, and clinical-nursing experience. She has helped academic medical centers and large health systems improve quality and patient safety, revenue management, operating-cost efficiency and effectiveness. Recently she was a principal at Deloitte, heading patient safety, quality, and capacity-management consulting services nationally.
