Three AAMI officials have been selected to present at the upcoming HIMSS Conference & Exhibition, which will take place from February 19–23 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.

In their presentation, Mortality, Mayhem and You: Risk Management in Digital Health, Nicholas J. Mankovich, vice president and chief information security officer at Becton Dickinson; Phil Raymond, director of the Center of Excellence for Wireless Competency for Philips Patient Care and Monitoring Solutions; and Todd Cooper, president of Trusted Solutions Foundry, Inc., will focus on the application of risk management to enterprise networks that incorporate medical devices using the standard American National Standards Institute (ANSI)/AAMI/International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 80001.

More and more medical devices and healthcare technologies are being networked together into so-called “systems of systems.” Such systems include patient monitors linked to central stations, smart infusion pumps, and devices that feed into electronic health records.

While such systems have revolutionized patient care, they have also created potential threats to patient safety. To help healthcare technology management and IT professionals identify and mitigate these risks, ANSI/AAMI/IEC 80001 specifies general requirements for the application of risk management to networks that include medical devices.

More than 40,000 health and IT professionals are expected to attend HIMSS17. AAMI is proud to support this annual event, which helps health IT professionals find the right solutions for their organizations so that they can continue to transform health and lives through IT.

As a HIMSS17 Endorser, AAMI members are eligible to receive a discount to attend the conference. To receive the discount, go to www.himssconference.org/registration and select AAMI from the “Conference Endorsing Organizations” drop-down menu during the registration process.
