The University of Vermont, Burlington, Vt, will offer two biomedical courses online during the spring 2013 semester.

The courses last from January 14 until May 10 and include:

HLTH 025, Patient Care Equipment Technology: An introduction to health care technology management, anatomy/physiology, as well as technical principles, safety, and troubleshooting techniques. Students will spend time learning about electrocardiographs, physiological monitors, infusion devices, ventilators, pacemakers, and defibrillators.

HLTH 135, Advanced Medical Equipment Systems: This focuses on imaging systems such as x-ray, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine, and ultrasound. The course will also cover clinical laboratory equipment, surgery devices, health care networks/Internet technology, and physical therapy equipment.
