As part of its continuing effort to attain HIMSS stage 7 requirements for a complete, secure electronic patient record, Hackensack University Medical Center has selected an enterprise content management (ECM) solution from Hyland Software to capture and manage content across the healthcare organization. According to the hospital, a key factor in selecting Hyland’s OnBase ECM system was its tight integration with Hackensack UMC’s Epic electronic health record (EHR).
The medical center will use OnBase to consolidate its disparate scanning systems and integrate them directly into the EHR and hospital billing system. “When selecting a solution we were looking for a quality product that had the functionality needed to help us advance processes and provide the next level of patient care,” said Shafiq Rab, CIO at Hackensack UMC. “By connecting all documents and patient data within our Epic EHR we will complete the patient record, and ultimately achieve the paperless environment required to achieve HIMSS Stage 7.”
