The new Voluson Performance series features AI and automation tools designed to simplify exams and improve workflow efficiency.
GE HealthCare has announced the launch of the Voluson Performance series, a new line of ultrasound systems for women’s health that integrates artificial intelligence (AI) and automation tools. The Voluson Performance 18 and 16 models, which recently received US Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance and CE Marking, are designed to deliver detailed imaging and simplify workflows for clinicians.
The systems aim to address the growing demands for efficiency and accuracy in healthcare settings by using technology to streamline common tasks.
“The Voluson Performance series builds on a legacy of innovation, combining Voluson imaging technology with intuitive design and AI-powered tools designed to simplify exams, save time and support efficient, consistent care delivery,” says Gerald Seifriedsberger, general manager of women’s health ultrasound at GE HealthCare, in a release. “By putting powerful, advanced solutions in the hands of providers, we’re helping expand access to high-quality women’s health imaging and advance a healthier future for women.”
AI Features Aim to Boost Workflow Efficiency
The Voluson Performance series incorporates several AI and automation tools intended to reduce user fatigue and exam time. The SonoLyst suite of tools can identify fetal anatomy, automatically annotate and measure where applicable, and capture images in real time. According to the company, this can reduce the keystrokes needed to complete a routine second-trimester exam by up to 65%. Another feature, SonoPelvicFloor, uses a guided workflow and AI to help users achieve reproducible exam results up to 75% faster.
To improve image quality, features like Autolive make automatic gain adjustments for better uniformity, while Shadow Reduction technology works to provide clearer imaging. The systems also include user-focused updates such as an updated touch panel interface, integrated wireless Vscan Air probes for bedside scanning, and a voice-activated “Hey Voluson” feature for hands-free control.
“As a gynecologist specializing in reproductive medicine, the Voluson Performance series makes it remarkably simple to do a 3D scan,” says Dr Arne van Heusden, gynecologist, The Randstad, Netherlands, in a release. “My colleagues are surprised by how easily we can do 3D imaging, and the system is extremely intuitive, which is one of its best features.”
