The distribution/co-marketing partnership formed by Medrad Inc, Warrendale, Pa and PETNET Solutions, a fully owned subsidiary of Siemens Medical Solutions USA Inc, Malvern, Pa, will help health care providers inject fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) for positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) imaging procedures in a new way.

The deal leverages Intego, Medrad’s soon-to-be introduced PET-infusion system, and multi-dose FDG packaging and delivery from PETNET Solutions. PET/CT imaging has proven effective in diagnosing and staging certain forms of cancer.

Intego automatically extracts a patient dose from a multi-dose vial and delivers it directly to the patient. The mobile system includes dosimetry, shielding, and a touchscreen interface.

PETNET will provide FDG to customers in its cyclotron-based radiopharmacy network in multi-dose vials and specially designed vial shields, which will integrate with Medrad’s new system.
