Ekahau Inc has announced the introduction of two active RFID tags for use with its real-time location systems: the A4+ long-life asset tag and the W4 patient wristband tag. The A4+ asset tag can send text alerts to third-party devices, email and Ekahau badge tags if equipment leaves designated zones, reducing the likelihood of theft and accidental removal. The tag also features a 5 volt USB charger and optional external battery pack port to extend tag life indefinitely.
Patients wearing the new W4 wristband tags can be tracked with bed-level location accuracy. The tags have a watch-like design, a tactile help button, and detachable wristbands to simplify tag recharging and cleaning.
