The 2007 meeting of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) in New Orleans will bring thousands of health care information technology experts together with government officials and industry leaders to explore ways of improving health care.

The 5-day event begins February 25 and already has a 22% higher registration than it had in previous years. The meeting will have 900 companies exhibiting their latest innovations and offering demonstrations to attendees.

Speakers in all sectors of health care will discuss progress, current barriers, and goals for health care information technology. Scheduled to appear at the conference are Steven Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft; former Secretary of State Colin Powell; and Michael Leavitt, secretary of the US Department of Health and Human Services.
