Wellvii Inc. announced a study with the University of Alberta in Canada to test its VitalDetect device for monitoring patients in rural areas.

Portable Device to Improve Rural Healthcare

The study will be run with Access Point of Care CEO and University of Alberta faculty member Todd McMullen, MD, PhD, and will test the capabilities of Wellvii’s portable VitalDetect vital sign measurement device, along with its accompanying iOS and Android applications, in remote medical applications.

“The all-in-one easy to use form factor of the VitalDetect is ideally suited for providing critical health monitoring in rural settings, reducing the travel burden on patients and physicians while improving the quality and longitudinal information available for diagnosing patients,” said Mark Khachaturian, Wellvii CEO.

Wellvii’s VitalDetect is designed to provide users with accurate, real-time results and trending insights into their underlying health. The device is meant to replace the need for multiple health devices, such as the arm cuff, and empower individuals to quickly and accurately measure and monitor vital signs.

“Delivering care over such a large area is challenging for doctors, but more so for patients that need to travel for visits that often just last a few minutes,” said McMullen. “We need portable and robust solutions, and I believe VitalDetect meets those needs.”
