On Tuesday, Tesla founder Elon Musk tweeted that the automaker has a surplus of ventilators to give to hospitals in need—free of charge—as they fight COVID-19.
The tweet comes after Musk previously tweeted that Tesla’s New York Gigafactory in Buffalo would be retooled for ventilator production “as soon as humanely possible” to help with the state’s shortage due to an influx of COVID-19 patients.
“We have extra FDA-approved ventilators. Will ship to hospitals worldwide within Tesla delivery regions. Device & shipping cost are free. Only requirement is that the vents are needed immediately for patients, not stored in a warehouse. Please me or @Tesla know,” Musk tweeted Tuesday.
