The 2012 edition of the Health Care Facilities Code—a National Fire Protection Association book—shifts to a risk- versus occupancy-based approach to health care facility safety, including medical gas and vacuum system content formerly found in NFPA 99C. The new benchmark advances health care facility safety with major changes such as a new risk-based framework; fully updated Chapter 5, Gas and Vacuum Systems, including additional maintenance requirements; and new chapters on security, fire protection, and information technology.
