Baxter recently identified unauthorized activity involving certain third-party applications, though the company reports no impact on manufacturing operations, customer operations, patient services, or business continuity.
The company continues to operate normally and stated it has no evidence that the activity affected products, connected solutions, or technologies used by healthcare providers to deliver patient care. According to a company statement, healthcare providers and customers can continue using Baxter products and connected solutions as intended.
Upon identifying the activity, Baxter activated its cybersecurity response procedures and engaged independent cybersecurity and forensic specialists. The investigation into the nature and scope of the information that may have been accessed or acquired is currently ongoing.
“Protecting our systems, information, and stakeholders remains a priority, and we are taking this matter very seriously,” says Baxter in a release.
At this time, the company does not expect the incident to have a material impact on its financials or results of operations. Baxter says it will provide further updates as additional information is confirmed.
