OWC, a technological solutions provider for Mac and PC, unveiled its new storage and docking solution, the OWC Flex 1U4 4-Bay Thunderbolt rackmount.

The OWC Flex 1U4 is a professional-grade 4-bay Thunderbolt storage and docking solution for gaining new rackmount workflow possibilities. The new solution allows users to utilize a mix of 2.5 or 3.5-inch SATA/SAS and U.2/M.2 NVMe drives in hot swappable drive bays; connect gear and charge mobile devices with Thunderbolt and USB ports; and add an audio/video capture, 10Gb Ethernet networking, SSD storage, hardware RAID card, or I/O card to the PCIe slot

The company’s suite of technological solutions includes memory, external drives, SSDs, Mac & PC Docking Solutions, network attached storage, and performance upgrade kits.

The OWC ThunderBay desktop storage line is aimed at providing a large and powerful RAID capacity, with a combination of improved storage capacity, Thunderbolt transfer performance, drive flexibility, and device expandability. In addition, the “FLEXpandability” of the OWC Flex 1U4 helps users adapt to necessary workflow changes. With the solution users can add new drives, connect different devices, and install a PCIe card of their choice.

A highlight of OWC FLEX technology is the ability to use U.2 NVMe SSDs and the OWC ecosystem of U.2 drives and adapters.

With the OWC U.2 ecosystem, moving and sharing data is fast and easy through the OWC Flex 1U4, including the ability to move back-up data to an offline colocation for backup workflows. The combination of OWC Flex 1U4 and the OWC U.2 ecosystem opens a new dimension to data transfer possibilities.

Users can harness the full capability of the OWC Flex 1U4 drive array with the included SoftRAID XT, a RAID management software for macOS and Windows. SoftRAID’s RAID creation and management technology includes the validation and verification of drives, and predictive disk failure with SoftRAID Monitor.
