Mid-stage and value finalists will showcase their solutions during live pitch sessions at the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit, culminating in audience-selected winners.

MedTech Innovator (MTI), an accelerator for medical technology startups, has announced the finalists in its Mid-Stage and Value Award Competitions.

The 2025 Mid-Stage and Value Award competitions will take place during the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit in San Diego, with the Value Award Competition on Nov 19 and the Mid-Stage Competition finals on Nov 20. During the competitions, each company will pitch its technology and answer questions from a panel of judges. After the presentations, the audience will vote in real-time to select the winner.

The Mid-Stage Finals Competition was launched in 2023 to allow more mature companies in the accelerator cohort to compete for recognition and cash awards. The mid-stage companies were chosen based on their value propositions, achievements to date, and likelihood to transform care. Each finalist will receive at least $25,000 in funding and have the chance to compete for the $200,000 Mid-Stage Grand Prize Award.

The four finalists that will compete for the 2025 Mid-Stage Prize are:

  • BRIJ Medical (Marietta,GA): Brijjit’s non-invasive tissue bridges are redefining closure and patient healing—eliminating up to 100% of incision tension to reduce open wounds by 90% and scar size by 38%.
  • MedCu (Herzliya, Israel): MedCu’s wound healing dressings release copper ions that stimulate the production of new blood capillaries and protect the wound from infection.
  • Multiphze (Glendale, Calif): First OSHA-compliant device to manually irrigate and remove bloody urine from the bladder, reducing exposure risk and cost.
  • Powerful Medical (New York City): AI ECG diagnostics and care-coordination platform with two-times the sensitivity on heart attacks compared to standard of care (+38 dg).

“We’re thrilled to bring the finalists in our Mid-Stage and Value Award competitions to the MedTech Strategist Innovation Summit in San Diego,” says Paul Grand, CEO of MTI, in a release. “Showcasing our finalists at the summit gives them unparalleled visibility to decision-makers at strategics, investors, providers, and payers who will vote to choose the winners of our $200,000 Mid-Stage Grand Prize and the $25,000 Value Award.”

Additionally, five finalists will compete for the $25,000 Value Award, recognizing the development of outstanding value propositions in their respective clinical areas. All participants in the MedTech Innovator accelerator had the opportunity to refine their value propositions over several months with input from MTI’s 37 value coaches. The value coaches nominated 28 companies for the finals, from which 13 were shortlisted for consideration, followed by a vote by MTI’s selection committee.

The five finalists for the 2025 Value Award are:

  • InSomaBio (Durham, NC): Described as “We Make Fat Amazing.”
  • Stentit (Eindhoven, Germany): The RFS opens arteries and triggers the reconstruction of a new artery from the inside out as it resorbs.
  • VQ Biomedical (Raleigh, NC): A minimally invasive catheter that diffuses oxygen directly into the bloodstream in patients with respiratory failure.
  • Wavelet (New Haven, Conn): A novel, noninvasive fetal EEG technology that detects real-time fetal distress to improve outcomes for mother and baby.
  • Winter Innovations (Knoxville, Tenn): A two-part needle system designed to reduce steps and strengthen stitching in orthopedic soft tissue surgery.

MTI tapped over 500 subject matter experts to evaluate thousands of applicants and mentor the best-in-class 64 companies participating in MTI’s flagship four-month US market-focused accelerator program. Featuring 45 early-stage and 19 mid-stage medical device, diagnostic, and digital health companies from around the globe, the 2025 cohort company leadership teams received unparalleled mentoring, networking, and access to the resources that only MTI’s world-leading ecosystem of strategic manufacturers, investors, healthcare providers, payers, patients, and other industry stakeholders can offer.
