Award-winning solutions focus on recycled content, faster sterilization cycles, and significant material reduction in clinical settings.

DuPont has announced the winners of its second annual Tyvek Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards, recognizing three companies for innovations that improve sustainability across the packaging lifecycle. The winners were revealed during the Medical Packaging Conference held Oct 6-8, 2025.

The awards highlight initiatives in packaging redesign, operational efficiency, and in-use sustainability that have a direct impact on healthcare operations, including waste reduction and sterilization processes. The three winners for 2025 are Evercare, Amcor, and B. Braun Medical, Inc.

Packaging Redesign Using Recycled Materials

Evercare was recognized in the packaging redesign category for its Endurance R50 film, a medical-grade packaging solution. The film incorporates up to 50% post-consumer advanced recycled content while maintaining the performance of virgin materials. When used with Tyvek lidding, the film provides effective thermoforming, sealing, and sterilization resistance. This innovation is designed to reduce reliance on virgin fossil-fuel-based plastics and lower carbon emissions.

Improving Sterilization and Seal Strength

For operational efficiencies, Amcor received an award for its ACT2100, a next-generation heat seal coating for Tyvek. According to the company, the coating delivers 25% stronger seals and 50% greater breathability than comparable products. These features are intended to enable faster, more reliable sterilization cycles and improve packaging integrity under demanding conditions, reducing manufacturing risks and enhancing supply chain reliability.

Reducing Waste in Clinical Settings

B. Braun Medical was awarded for sustainability in-use after redesigning its regional anesthesia and procedure tray packaging. The new sterile barrier system, which pairs Amcor’s Sureform Ultra forming film with Tyvek 1059B rollstock, eliminates 64 metric tons of plastic and 4,400 pounds of paper annually. The change also lowers carbon dioxide equivalent emissions by 198 metric tons each year and makes packaging easier for hospitals to recycle.

“The award-winning initiatives showcased in the 2025 DuPont Tyvek Sustainable Healthcare Packaging Awards are a true testament to how the healthcare packaging industry continues to make meaningful strides in sustainable innovation,” says David Domnisch, vice president and general manager, DuPont Tyvek and Typar, in a release. “DuPont is proud to partner with customers in the healthcare and healthcare packaging industry to help them meet and exceed their sustainability goals while continuing to provide the highest level of product and patient safety.”

The awards program is open to medical device manufacturers, sterile packaging manufacturers, and healthcare facilities, among others. The next application period is expected to open in May 2026.
