Sharp has announced an upgrade to its 45-inch professional LCD monitor and will now design it for use in both portrait and landscape display modes.

The new PN-455RU monitor, unveiled at the Radiological Society of North America’s meeting in Chicago, has internal cooling, airflow, and a backlight system optimized for use in portrait mode.

The screen’s anti-glare and low-reflection properties as well as its high contrast and 170-degree viewing angle helps it display a picture that can be seen from virtually anywhere in the room.

The display has two-megapixel 1920 x 1080 HD resolution with more than six million pixel elements for precise image reproduction. It is built for extended use applications including digital information display or signage, medical applications, graphics, and CAD/CAM applications.
