AAMI members interested in giving back to the healthcare technology management (HTM) field have the opportunity to join the association’s Technology Management Council (TMC), as well as its Healthcare Technology Leadership Committee (HTLC).

Nominations are being accepted for openings on the TMC, which is a 25-member committee that represents the interests of biomedical equipment technicians, clinical engineers, and other HTM professionals. The TMC provides networking opportunities for its members; advances and promotes the HTM profession to others in healthcare and to the public at large; and develops career and technical resources for local biomedical associations, healthcare facilities, manufacturers, and other professionals.

AAMI also is seeking volunteers to join the HTLC. This committee seeks to nurture leadership skills among HTM professionals and to advance the professional interests of HTM managers. The HTLC has developed several books and other resources, such as an updated guide to computerized maintenance management systemsOther committee projects include developing standardized job descriptions for the HTM field and uniform terms and definitions related to adverse events.

“The TMC and HTLC each provide a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference in the field outside your workplace,” says Patrick Bernat, AAMI’s director of healthcare technology management. “There’s so much enthusiasm among the HTM field, and these committees provide an ideal venue to turn that enthusiasm into action.”

AAMI members interested in serving a three-year term as a TMC or HTLC member should apply online by March 23. Questions about the TMC or HTLC or the nomination process can be sent to Patrick Bernat at [email protected].
