Childrens Hospital & Research Center Oakland, a Level I pediatric trauma center and the largest pediatric critical care facility in the region, has completed a system-wide conversion to Masimo SET pulse oximetry, from Masimo, Irvine, Calif.

The facility is the first children’s hospital to introduce the technology hospital-wide.

Masiomo’s non-invasive monitoring capabilities will help the hospital measure critical components of a child’s blood quickly and easily, helping to reduce discomfort. New hemoglobin monitoring (SpHb) technology, also included, will allow clinicians to detect and treat chronic or acute anemia earlier, identify internal bleeding sooner, and more effectively manage blood transfusions.

The hospital will also have access to Masimo’s  Rainbow SET technology, an upgradable noninvasive blood constituent monitoring platform, which is capable of quickly detecting internal bleeding, fluid responsiveness, oxygen saturation, pulse rate, and perfusion.
