In our upcoming January 2011 issue we cover what to do to handle a device incident, as well as what to make sure you don’t do when confronted with one.

Judd Haymond, chief biomed tech at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Ind, also shared some advice, saying:

“In a device incident remain calm. A long time ago, my first incident, I remember almost stroking out, feeling I was responsible! Even though I had no control over the incident, I felt awful! New techs that experience this must try to remain calm and don’t try to hide anything. Be very open about your role.”

Remaining calm amid the storm is great advice Judd, thank you! Have a tip of your own? Have you dealt with any “unusual” incidents? We invite your comments and suggestions.
