24×7: What are some of the products and services offered by STERIS?
Blackmore: STERIS is a global provider of infection-prevention; decontamination; and surgical and critical care capital equipment, consumables, and services. Readers may be familiar with STERIS brand names such as the SYSTEM 1® Sterile Processing System and Amsco® steam sterilizers. Some of our branded consumables include Verify® sterility-assurance products, Kindest Kare®, and a host of other highly effective cleaning chemistries.
24×7: What new products are being developed by STERIS?
Blackmore: We have invested millions of dollars to keep our field-service team equipped with state-of-the-art tools, including a comprehensive Customer Relationship Management system to track customer equipment, and laptops to provide documentation and support at their fingertips. We have just launched the eService Portal, and we are embarking on a strategy to leverage and integrate several technology platforms to improve service quality and customer uptime while transforming service delivery for the future.
24×7: Where do you see trends in the industry heading?
Blackmore: Networked devices and remote monitoring of equipment will be integral to providing new levels of uptime, while also generating information to help us improve our products and solutions on a real-time basis. Our people will always remain our most important asset, but technology will help drive innovation more rapidly.
