A new article in Forbes, written by Projectech CEO Steve Richmond, reveals how medical device manufacturers often overlook cybersecurity in their quest to bring new products to market as quickly as possible and why this practice is troublesome. Richmond shares his views below.

The way I see it, there’s a general lack of clarity regarding healthcare and cybersecurity, especially in the manufacturing space. As a CEO and founder of a technology company, I believe a few things would go a long way in implementing safer practices throughout the industry to protect data better and prevent cybersecurity threats across the board. This is particularly important when it comes to the companies forging ahead with the production of new and emerging technology in medical devices that are often now directly connected to the internet.

Healthcare manufacturing has evolved from a time-consuming and laborious process to a highly advanced, automated and well-tested process that increases efficiency. As adopting these innovations increases with time, healthcare manufacturers will need to modify their processes to preserve their supply chain integrity and promote product quality.
