Capsule, a medical device integration company, and Masimo, a company specializing in pulse oximetry and co-oximetry, have jointly announced a partnership to integrate Masimo SET Measure-through Motion and Low Perfusion pulse oximetry technology into the upcoming SmartLinx Vitals Plus patient monitoring system.

According to the statement, the SmartLinx Vitals Plus system adds vital signs monitoring capabilities to Capsule’s SmartLinx Medical Device Information System (MDIS). This integrated platform is designed to increase efficiency and improve patient care delivery through the systematic capture of patient vital signs at the point of care. The products also deliver captured data to hospital electronic medical records, other information systems, and third-party mobile solutions.

According to the companies, Vitals Plus offers healthcare organizations a solution for monitoring and clinical documentation. Using Capsule’s SmartLinx Neuron2 mobile clinical computer combined with Masimo’s SET technology, clinicians adopting Vitals Plus will be able to display oxygenation, pulse rate, and perfusion index values at the point of care. The system supports clinicians with patient assessments, intervention, and treatment, while also delivering the validated vital signs directly to the medical record.

“The integration of Masimo SET with SmartLinx Vitals Plus will provide caregivers the ability to more accurately measure a patients’ oxygenation, even during challenging conditions of patient motion and low perfusion,” said Gene Cattarina, CEO at Capsule.
