According to a new report, the refurbished orthopedic medical imaging market is witnessing a surge in demand across the globe. After all, Research and Markets officials say, many small diagnostic centers and standalone hospitals are adopting refurbished orthopedic medical imaging devices as they provide significant cost savings compared to new orthopedic medical imaging equipment.

Case in point: The average cost of a refurbished digital x-ray system is approximately 20% less than the cost of a new x-ray system. Also, like new imaging device manufacturers, refurbished medical imaging device providers offer benefits such as warranties and after-sales services, Research and Market officials say.

Even so, Research and Market officials say, the market for new orthopedic medical imaging systems is hot, thanks to a bevy of new product launches. In fact, several manufacturers, including Siemens Healthineers, Philips Healthcare, and Toshiba Medical Systems, have received regulatory approvals for their orthopedic medical imaging devices in the last two to three years.

What’s more, the report pointed to the increasing incidence of orthopedic diseases and bone injuries as driving market growth. Specifically, the incidence of conditions such as arthritis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, and serious limb trauma injuries, is growing throughout the world.
